Parents may get their children’s car seats inspected this Thursday, June 8, from 5-8:30 p.m., outside the Sully District Police Station. It’s at 4900 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. Inspections are done on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should install the child safety seat themselves, so the inspection can be performed. The seat will be properly re-installed, if necessary, and parents will be taught how to install the seat properly. Everyone is eligible. Another car-seat inspection is scheduled for July 13, at the same place and time.
Women Can Join Self-Defense Classes
Registration is now open for the Fairfax County Police Department’s June self-defense classes for women. They’ll be held June 13, 15, 20 and 22, and participants must attend all four nights. Women will learn essential crime-prevention and personal-safety information followed by hands-on, self-defense practice.
Classes are free, but registration is required at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050c44a5a92aa20-june3#/. If the classes are full, continue to check the link because someone may decide to cancel, thereby opening up a spot. Space is limited and there is no waitlist. Participants 13-17 years old must be accompanied by a registered parent/guardian, all four nights.
Pride Coffee with a Cop, June 17
Area residents are invited to join their local police officers and neighbors in celebrating Pride month with a cup of coffee. Pride Coffee with a Cop will be held Saturday, June 17, from 8:30-10 a.m., at the Stone Road Starbucks at 5623 Stone Road in Centreville. It’s a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers in the Sully District. There’s no agenda or speeches – it’s just a casual atmosphere for coffee and conversation.
