APPETITE
A trio of celebrations awaits this month, ranging from an arts-and-cocktails soiree early on to a celebration of Oktoberfest to a bluegrass brunch to beat the band. Kick off the journey to autumn with some September fun – here are some of the month’s best bets.
Art on the Rocks, Sept. 8
In celebration of Old Town Cocktail Week, the Art League is hosting Art on the Rocks, a showcase of mixologists and chefs coming together to create the perfect pairing. Sample specialty cocktails and crafted appetizers – and vote for your favorite! – while supporting the Art League. Naturally, live music and lively art will also star in the event. $70. 5:30-8:30 p.m. Waterfront Park, 1A Prince St.
Wunderfest at Port City Brewing, Sept. 23
It’s Oktoberfest time again, and Port City Brewing is getting straight to the heart of the matter with its Wunderfest! Billed as “an outdoor celebration of German-style beers,” Wunderfest will take over Port City’s outdoor space with live music, food trucks slinging German-inspired food and, of course, some German-style beers. And don’t forget the contests: Don your best Oktoberfest gear for the Best Costume contest; enter yourself (or a friend) into the Best Yodeler Competition; or, finally, aim to take home the prize in the sausage toss. Noon-6 p.m. 3950 Wheeler Ave.
Bluegrass and Brunch at Lost Boy Cider, Sept. 24
A little bluegrass music, a little brunch and maybe a swig or two of cider; what could be better on an autumnal Sunday? Lost Boy has teamed up with Split String Soup (for the bluegrass) and Whiskey and Oyster (for the brunch) to bring guests a feast for all senses. Entry to the event is free, but space is limited, so get there early! And bring your appetite – Whiskey and Oyster is offering an all-you-can-eat brunch special for $15. As for Lost Boy’s part, cider mimosas are available on tap. Noon-3 p.m. 317 Hooffs Run Drive.
