Joyce Simmons had a stroke in 2008, and has been an active Stroke Comeback Center member for five years. Until she got her driver’s license back recently, it took Joyce two hours getting to the center from Woodbridge … first, catching a bus to the “slug” lines, “slugging” it to the closest Metrorail station, then taking a bus into Vienna, walking the remainder of the way to the center on Park Street. Joyce’s mother, Khadijah Aquil, purchased a “star” in her daughter’s name.
